Recently, I’ve been on a hunt for an authentic Rajasthani thali in Chennai. While I was at it, I didn’t find just one, but I found 15! I’ve put together a list of 15 Rajasthani restaurants in Chennai for delicious food for this blog.

Rajasthan, the country of Maharajas, is well-known for its rich cultural heritage. But it is the state’s food that distinguishes and popularizes it. #1. Chokhi Dhani

Choki Dhani, the mini Rajasthan in Chennai, is the perfect place to eat like a Rajasthani and feel like one. You’ll be accompanied by a personal guide. At the same time, you pass your time engaging in different activities – Boat Ride, Camel ride, Horse ride, Cattle Carting, Horse and camel chariot rides.

Primarily known for its Rajasthani thali in Chennai, Rajdhani has been on my favourites list for a long time now. The most popular dishes in Khandani include Fruit Shrikhand, Dal Baati Churma, Crispy Jalebi, Churma and their dals.

#3. Mithai Mandir

Let me just start by saying that they have the BEST Parathas in town! Located as a relatively small restaurant in Vadapalani, Mithai Mandir is the best Rajasthani restaurant in Chennai. I can guarantee you that you’ll never leave this place with an empty stomach!

#4. Shri Rajasthani Dhaba Restaurant

Every time I visited this Rajasthani restaurant in Chennai, I got my food without much wait – irrespective of the crowd present! I had tried the unlimited Rajasthani thali in Chennai here, which had 2 delicious sabzis, dal, rotis and rice with total quantity. If you’d ask me to pick just one item that I would go back for, it was the delicious moong dal dessert.

#5. UTSAV – Celebration of Thali

Much like the name goes, Utsav is a celebration of the different flavours and masalas of Rajasthan. You’ll be seated in a royal ambience, greeted by polite servers, and served authentic Rajasthani cuisine. Though the thali comprises small portions, they allow multiple servings.

#6. Sree Agarwal Bhojanaalay

Sree Agarwal Bhojanalay, an authentic place to have Rajasthani thali in Chennai, is located in Sowcarpet. It’s the best option for a quick and filling lunch in between a tiring workday. Most of their menu can be prepared for my Jain friends as well!

Rajasthani Roti Ghar provides the typical Rajasthani thali in Chennai. My favourite picks were the lassi, the buttermilk, and the curd. I finished my meal with utmost satisfaction. However, I would recommend you to get a takeaway or order online from Rajasthani Roti Ghar.

This Rajasthani restaurant in Chennai has a dull ambience, average service, brilliant food, and a great price! Sri Krishna Bhojnalaya is situated in Mint Street, Sowcarpet, and is known for its authentic and straightforward Rajasthani thali in Chennai.

I once got a hot and delicious Rajasthani thali delivered at home – and I had the best lunch in a long time!

Agarwal’s Desi Khana Khazana, one of the Rajasthani restaurants in Chennai, is located in Kilpauk. They offer all the delicacies of Rajasthan with top quality and taste, and they also provide Jain food.

Rajasthani Restaurant is a vegetarian restaurant located in Potheri. They have Rajasthani and other north Indian cuisines that were beyond my expectations.

#15. MADHARAS – Global Veg Kitchen

MADRAS Global Veg Kitchen is a multi-cuisine restaurant that is one of my personal favourites. Every time I’ve visited the restaurant (which is, a lot), the taste of their food remains the same. Complemented by excellent customer service and ambience, this is easily the best Rajasthani restaurant in Chennai.

This was my list of the 15 Rajasthani restaurants in Chennai for a heartfelt and delicious meal. Each of these restaurants has its own flavors and delicacies – a different balance of masalas, amount of ghee, and the overall taste. However, they all are bound together by the Rajasthani flavors.
